These steps apply to our Canon devices, but any color printing device will have a similar setting in it's "Printing preferences".

Preferences Per Printer vs Per Job
This method sets black and white as a preference for the printer, but it can be changed for each print job in the application's print dialog.
Select the Windows button and open Settings by clicking the gear icon.

Enter "printers" in the Windows Settings search box, then select "Printers & scanners".

Select the color copier or printer and click "Manage".

Select "Printing Preferences".
In the preferences dialog box, under "Color Mode", select "Black and White".

Select "OK" and close Settings.
Repeat this for all color capable devices you may use.

Control Panel Method
The same "Printer Preferences" dialog can be reached via the Control Panel: Select Start, enter "Control Panel", select "Devices And Printers", right-click the printer, select "Printing Preferences".
