Learn the process for interacting with media and how to communicate during a publicized crisis. There is a specific process that University Connected Learning follows when presented with a request to speak to the media, so please follow that procedure before agreeing to an interview.

UCL Media Relations Policy: In most cases, the AVP or Associate Dean is the right person to speak to the media. Please familiarize yourself with the media policy to know the appropriate course of action.

If you need to immediately reach someone from Leadership about a media inquiry, here is their contact:

  • Deborah Keyek-Franssen: Call via MS Teams and you will reach her cell.

  • Jodi Emery: Cell: 801-706-5960 or via Teams

  • Nate Friedman: Cell: 801-792-4567 or via Teams

  • Cory Stokes: Call via Teams 801-706-5960 and Nate's 801-792-4567

Purpose: To maintain a professional profile, avoid conflict and inaccuracy in releasing information, and effectively coordinate all interactions with the media, this policy identifies the proper channels of communication for referring and initiating media inquiries relating to University Connected Learning (UCL).

Media Training: Notes to help prepare you for speaking to the media.

Crisis Communications Briefing Plan: What to communicate during a crisis? (Please refer to UCL’s Media Relations Policy to determine if the right spokesperson has been identified.)
