Salesforce - Sandbox Testing
This page is written for non-ISM employees who are testing functionality in a Salesforce sandbox.
Before testing
You will be identified as a tester for the project
An ISM team member will add you to the sandbox.
Logging in the first time
You will receive an email to verify your email address. It will look something like this:
Click the link to verify your email address.
You cannot access the sandbox for testing without verifying your new email address.Once you have verified your email address, you will receive a password reset link.
Note: The highlighted sandbox name may be different for you.
Click the link to create your sandbox password. You may also be asked to set a security question.
A sandbox is not connected to production, so you will not log in with SSO. Save this password (and your security question) for future log ins.
And, vice versa, your sandbox password will not work for your production account of Salesforce
Using the sandbox for testing
Consider the sandbox to be a second CRM only to test your specific project. Not everything will be functional, and it is best practice to minimize live data in a sandbox.
You should have similar views in the sandbox to match those in Salesforce production.
You may have elevated permissions associated with the project or to allow access for testing.
When you first log in, you may see error screens associated with tabs and records you were viewing in Production. This is normal, and you can close these tabs in the sandbox.
Your ISM contact for the project you’re testing will provide a list of test cases or functionalities for you to test.
